At the moment it's Art, Finance, Family and Sikhi, though I could easily sub categorise parenting, craft, art journaling and meditation. Having a blog, I've had several throughout the years, has helped me focus on special interests I love and want to share. Somewhere to write, learn more about yourself and develop skills. I recently had a permission request from VICE to use a clip from a past video and agreed, this wouldn't have happened if they found it difficult to contact me - make it easy! Having a contact form - It may seem simple and people could DM you however there's something brilliant about having a contact form redirect to your email and go from there. That same week I appeared on her podcast! I reached out to GuruNischan one Summer and in my email attached my blog link so she could see, I'm a real person and here's a bit about me if you're interested. It's a place you can build a like-minded community when you read and comment on other people's blogs too and depth over instant gratification every time. Show people who you are - when people come to your blog it will most likely have an about page, blog and contact form, it's somewhere for people to land and explore. Here are three reasons why having a blog is a great thing, in a social media-focused world:
I prefer to delay the dopamine and channel my energy through Art and Writing even if it takes longer, rather than do a passive-aggressive response video to all my 'followers' or share something half done to share, get likes and feel seen. I'm not staying I haven't been one of these examples before, I'm not judging, though when it comes down to it, I am a creator and writer. Some people write a mini blog post per Instagram post and videos recorded on the phone in their car, with eye-catching wording around them, instantly shared of course. Scofield has also exposed tantra teachers Andrew Barnes, TJ Bartel, Charles Muir and Shantam Nityama for sexual assault and misconduct.I've questioned this a few times, why blog when there is so much going on social media, where Reels and Tik Toks are the first points of action from stay at home Mums to people promoting their brand or business. Her in-depth reporting on a tantric sex cult in Europe called The New Tantra led to prominent Dutch Magazine De Volkskrant running a front-page feature. Scofield’s articles exposing sexual abuse in the modern tantra scene have reached global audiences and put several prominent teachers into retirement. Her critiques of modern spiritual teachers Byron Katie and Abraham Hicks have had widespread reach. Scofield’s expose on Yogi Bhajan, founder of Kundalini Yoga, helped usher in an era of recognition and awareness about his abuses. Her pivotal reporting on global spiritual teacher Mooji has nearly 200,000 views and she was the first to cover the cult leader.
Story: Aaravindha Himadra and the Mysterious Orcas Island Death of Carla Jean Shaffer. The article uncovers clues, facts, and information that help shed light on her mysterious death. She may have been leaving a cult called “Children of the Light” at the time, now known as Sambodha. Carla Jean Shaffer, a woman who mysteriously died under suspicious circumstances 13 years ago was the subject of the piece. In October 2018, exactly one year to the date after Be went to Sedona she mysteriously discovered a cult on Orcas Island and spent a month investigating. In Septemeber 2020 Be's original reporting about the Love Has Won cult was made into a special two-part season premiere of the Dr. Jezebel produced a short documentary about Agama Yoga as well. Sexual abuse at Agama was recently profiled on Netflix's show UNWELL. Over 50 stories appeared in over 20 countries worldwide. In September, The Guardian ran a front-page story about Agama Yoga which got 300,000 views in the first week. Four days after the expose was published, the founder, Swami Vivekananda Saraswati and the other 3 accused teachers fled Thailand and went into hiding. Agama Yoga was one of the most established and largest yoga/tantra training centers in the world. In July 2018 Scofield exposed a rape and sexual assault scandal at Agama Yoga in Thailand which led to it's collapse.
